Part 1: The Evolution of Digital Filing Systems – The Problem
February 16th, 2012 by KGarton
We recently announced the addition of NeatCloud™ and NeatMobile™ to our existing digital filing systems, NeatDesk® and NeatReceipts®. The development of NeatCloud and NeatMobile comes on the heels of a surging cloud and mobile market, driven by consumers and small businesses seeking a single, logical, convenient way to digitally organize and manage important information.
Historically, we’ve helped our customers solve the paper and digital problem by providing a scanning and software solution to organize information. But for today’s generation, we realize that more and more consumers and small businesses need and want immediate access to information from anywhere on any device. Smaller applications, point solutions and home grown procedures have emerged to address a certain aspect of this large challenge, but none have dealt with paper, digital, and mobile content in one accessible manageable system… until now.
Today, Neat’s new digital filing system is a reaction to the growing problems of personal information and expectations of how it can/should be managed. Neat’s digital filing system will consist of the Neat software platform; the company’s popular scanning solutions NeatDesk® and NeatReceipts®; and newly announced products NeatCloud™ and NeatMobile™.
“Neat defines a Digital Filing System as a computer- and/or cloud-based repository where important documents and information can be safely stored, organized, retrieved and shared – regardless of the original source.”
Throughout the next few months I’ll be providing monthly updates and thoughts on digital filing systems and the cloud. Stay tuned!
Until Next Time… Keep it Neat!

This could be really useful for me. I have old shoe boxes full of receipts. NeatCloud is also definitely interesting.

I prepare taxes for friends that I barter with for services, myself, and family. The Neat Receipts will allow me to have an electronic copy of each tax returns receipts on file and not piled up around my house!
