Neat Ending Support of Legacy Desktop Software

To: All Neat desktop software users

Neat  Software:
For the past several years, the Neat Company has been developing a comprehensive new software platform that performs better than and provides enhanced features for, the latest in document scanning, storage, and retrieval.

Our newest cloud-powered software was released in May 2015 and allows for streamlined operations on all platforms including Windows, Mac, Android, Apple IOS, and browser access through our web portal at cloud.neat.com.  In addition to performance and infrastructure improvements, we have taken the most popular features from our previous OS-specific desktop applications and enhanced the software with new document types only available in the new software platform, such as:

  • Invoices
  • Bills
  • Statements
  • Recipes

The newest cloud-powered software platform also has support for non-Neat scanners. This allows you to use our software with your existing multifunction printers (MFP’s), TWAIN-compatible scanners (for example, brands such as Panasonic and HP), and Fujitsu ScanSnap devices!

End of Support for Legacy Desktop Platforms
Effective immediately, Neat will no longer continue developing feature enhancements, updates, and/or bug fixes for the versions of Neat desktop software listed below:

Versions impacted (Note: How do I check which version I am using?):

  • Windows – Neat version 5.7 and all previous versions
  • Mac – Neat for Mac version 4.5 and all previous versions

As of March 31, 2016, downloads for these final versions of the desktop software (v5.7 for Windows; v4.5 for MacOS) will no longer be publicly available on our website.

Options for Current Users
Users currently on one of these legacy versions of Neat software can continue to use the legacy Neat software for as long as you would like, however, agent-assisted support for these versions will end on April 30, 2016.   Customers under the Neat one (1) year limited warranty or on a paid NeatCare Support Plan will still  be able to download the software and/or receive support via login to our Customer Portal at www.neat.com/myaccount.

Please note: customers who have recently purchased a scanner and software bundle (including Essential, Premium, or Business software plans) from Neat or one our authorized retailers are already using the latest version. Updates on new developments and enhancements are released will be applied automatically.

All current Neat Desktop software (Neat 5 & Neat for Mac) users are eligible to upgrade to the newest version of our software (Essential, Premium, and Business software plans available). Customers outside the Limited Warranty period requiring assistance with the download and upgrade can purchase a NeatCare Support Plan which includes: unlimited software upgrades and 60 days of live agent technical support.

We realize that this change may be a disappointment to some, however, we believe that streamlining development on a single platform for connectivity to Neat from any device and any operating system allows us to continue to innovate and enhance the Neat experience to allow you, our loyal users, to work more efficiently.   We are very excited about what the future holds with our new software and connectivity innovations and we thank you for your continued support of Neat products and services.
